Checking out Godot day 2 so far.. tower defence tutorial is progressing nicely. Learned a bunch of things this morning, including Path3D and PathFollow3D which would be really useful should I ever decide to remake a certain octopus game..

Ok so almost at the end of day 1 with Godot and I’ve been really surprised by how nice it is. I’ve been following a tutorial and I’ve made a very basic game, so the only thing left to do before I call it a day is to try and export it as an exe. Just waiting for the export template to download (that’s what you need to export apparently) and I’ll be giving that a go. Will it run? We’ll see!

It's my GD Script equivalent of Hello World! Amazing! I wonder if 'Hello Arse' will catch on?

In GDScript, it would appear scripts use indents instead of curly brackets?!

For example, a function isn't enclosed in curly brackets - everything indented after the declaration runs. Bit weird, but whatevs I'm down. Saves pressing the curly brackets buttons all the time, I suppose. #Godot

K so in Godot scenes are like prefabs or blueprints but also like scenes. You can put scenes in your scenes like they’re prefabs, so you make a ‘player’ scene instead of a player prefab and then instantiate that into your level scene. Interesting.

OK, so I've only been in Godot for about 30 minutes and something I'm very impressed by is how easy it is to drag the numbers in the interface so they go up and down. In Unreal or Unity, I feel like I have to take a sec to fiddle about to find the specific point on the screen where I need to drag to make the numbers change. In Godot, it works really nicely. This is a good start. Yes, nothing at all to do with the actual game etc. but a detail I appreciate all the same 👍
